Designer of the Month

March: Jean Pierre Braganza

Jean Pierre Braganza, from Canada, graduated from Central Saint Martins and worked with Roland Mouret before setting up a label of his own. With his carefully constructured tailoring he combines a soft and feminine edge to create a wonderfully elegant and comtemporary style.

Jean Pierre himself describes the Braganza woman as "Strong and confident with good taste. She’s not afraid to embrace the dark side of life.” In true designer style he recently declared fashion slavery with reference to his pre-collection workload!

"Goodbye sleep, it was nice knowing you.”

When asked about his favourite era in fashion he divulged...
"I would have loved to dress like a Victorian dandy.” How splendid!
OH YES JEAN PIERRE! - We can see you now!

I am in love with his Spring/Summer collection @London Fashion Week this year!

Best of....

Vintage Vulture

As a lover of tailoring and simplicity in fashion, I've never really worked the Vintage look! but having browsed some charming vintage stalls at 'We love fashion presents...Unique Fashion Fair' at Circo in Liverpool's Albert Dock this weekend, I found myself totally caught up in styles of yesteryear!

'Stacey Style' and 'Nats Frocks' were offering some great vintage fashions, and 'Rubie Locks' and '16 Braunton Hats & Accessories' had some absolute gems on offer to add a bit of glamour to an outfit!

Nats Frocks:

I bought these fab silver earrings from Jessies Jewels for just £7.00 (right)......

and drooled over these by Bollywood Bazaar.

Bollywood Bazaar can be found on facebook, located in Wood Sreet, Liverpool.
Certainly be looking here in future for dazzling jewels!

Whilst on the subject of jewellery - I also purchased this amazing gold coloured neck piece from 'Zoe P Jewellery' last month (below) for just £20(Liverpool designer)...

The perfect accessory for a little black party dress!

I bought a classy black vintage dress by 'Lulu's Parade' and a cropped lace waistcoat in light gold...

Cable knit is king!

Despite having been scouring the spring/summer trends recently for lightweight, floaty fabrics and sleeveless dresses, I still can't curb my incessant adoration of the good old wardrobe staple that is the cable knit sweater! Spotting a young girl in jeans and wellies wearing one just yesterday triggered a slideshow of much more exciting high end fashion styling combinations in my mind!

Not only is the cable knit sweater a trusty wardrobe warrior worn through the seasons come rain or shine, it also looks great on both men and women and in my opinion epitomises our great British fashion heritage which I feel it is my duty to celebrate at least bi-anually being the pale English rose that I am!

To prove it's still a favourite - here's Rachel Bilson spotted in a little grey number recently which she's teamed with a good old pair of Red Label jeans!

The Aran knit can come in many different patterns and is steeped in history, tracing back - some say - as early as a 9th century depiction in the Book of Kells. The cable knit, in waterproof lanolin yarns, said to have been worn by fishermen to keep them dry, has a traditional interpretation. The cable being an integral part of the fisherman's daily life, is said to be a wish for safety and good luck when fishing. The diamond is a wish of success, wealth and treasure. The basket stitch represents the fisherman's basket, a hope for a plentiful catch! And you thought it was just an ordinary sweater!

Fave picks this spring summer...

Kurt Geiger Love

It has to be said...a girl can never have too many pairs of shoes! From glittery to patent, satin, suede or leather, walking past that Kurt Geiger window display without going in would be a fashion felony!

I tried on these Kurt Gieger 'Artist' shoes at the weekend and was utterly devastated when I walked across the shop floor in what could only be described as AGONY! crushing my electric blue glitter filled dreams of stomping out my modern day rendition of stayin alive on some shiny Liverpool dancefloor anytime soon! Nothing to do with my feet being humungously close to a size 9 of course. These must definately be a small 8!
